Father name is K.S. Athanari Gounder and Mother is Akhila. He married to Eswari, and has one son.
Politics Entry
K.A. Sengottaiyan’s political career spans over five decades, beginning at a young age and holding various significant roles in the Tamil Nadu government and the AIADMK party.
Early Career
He entered politics with the AIADMK in 1972 after joining the MGR fan club at age 20, influenced by Dravidian ideology and social service.
MLA Tenures
Sengottaiyan has been elected as a member of the legislative assembly (MLA) nine times, representing the Perundurai constituency and the Chetpet constituency for multiple terms. He was among the longest-serving AIADMK members in different terms.
Party Positions
He has served as the Headquarter secretary and as a key leader within the party.
Reasons for AIADMK Expulsion and TVK Entry
Sengottaiyan’s exit from the AIADMK in late 2025 followed months of internal conflict and public disagreement with party General secretary Edappadi Palaniswami (EPS).
Push for unity
In September 2025, Sengottaiyan publicly urged the AIADMK leadership to reunite expelled leaders like O. Panneerselvam and T.T.V.Dhinakaran, pushing ahead to strengthen the party ahead of the 2026 Assembly elections.
Allegations against EPS
He criticized Palaniswami’s leadership as dictatorial, alleging that the party was being run by EPS’s family members (son and son-in-law).
Kodanad case inquiry
Sengottaiyan questioned why EPS did not push for a CBI investigation into the controversial Kodanad estate murder case, hinting at corruption within the party.
Expulsion
He was eventually expelled from the AIADMK in October 2025 for “anti-party activities,” specifically for participating in a joint press conference with other expelled leaders.
Joining TVK
After feeling let down by the AIADMK and potentially the BJP, he joined actor Vijay’s leading TVK party, viewing it as an anti-DMK and anti-BJP alternative where he could hold senior, influential positions.
Current Role in Tamilaga Vetti Kazhagam (TVK)
Upon joining the TVK on November 27, 2025, Sengottaiyan was immediately given two pivotal roles in the party and also asked his party members to follow him.
Chief coordinator
The TVK party president has awarded him as Chief Coordinator of the TVK’s high-level administrative committee, a role where he will guide the party’s future decisions.Organisation secretary for four crucial western districts in theKongu region which is as coimbatore, Erode, tiruppur, and the Nilgiris. And also came to know that he is more ever handling 70 to 100 seats separately from Kongu mandalam to Karnataka Border till Hosur and Thalli. He has started his hunting towards the right and capable candidates with good and high face value in the respective districts and constituencies. Their will be no limits for surprises in the TVK party in coming January and | February. Lets hope the best.
