It’s Final TVK V v/s DMK தான்

The acronyms TVK and DMK refer to two opposing political parties in Tamil Nadu, India: the new party Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), led by actor- turned- politician Vijay, and the incumbent ruling party Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK).

The “vs” signifies a developing political rivalry and an escalating war of words ahead of the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections.

Key Points of Rivalry : Declared Main Opposition: TVK chief Vijay has repeatedly stated that the 2026 election will be a direct contest between only the TVK and the DMK, positioning his party as the primary alternative to the current government.

Accusations: Vijay and his party leaders have accused the DMK of corruption, “family politics”, obstructing TVK’s events, and using the government machinery to spread slander and manipulate voter lists.

Electoral Rolls Issue: A recent point of contention has been the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, with the TVK accusing the DMK government of misusing the process to delete eligible TVK-leaning voters, particularly from Gen Z.

2026 Elections: Both parties are actively campaigning for the 2026 polls, with Vijay declaring his intention to contest from the Madurai East constituency and the TVK general council naming him the Chief Ministerial candidate.
